Bajaj Auto looks set to expand its Avenger lineup with the introduction of the Street 220 in India. The motorcycle has been listed on the company’s official website, hinting that the launch could happen soon, though the exact date is yet to be confirmed. The upcoming Avenger Street 220 will be positioned alongside the Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220 and is expected to share most of its mechanicals. The Cruze 220 currently retails at Rs. 1.29 lakh, ex-showroom, and street variants are likely to be priced slightly lower. Meanwhile, Bajaj has quietly removed the Avenger Street 160 from its website. This effectively leaves the 220cc versions as the only option in the Avenger range for now.Powering the new Street 220 will be the same 220cc, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine seen on the Cruze 220. The unit produces 19 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 17.6 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm, paired with a G5 GPP box.
In terms of design and ergonomics, the Street 220 will differ from the Cruze variant. It is likely to feature a lower handlebar and will replace the tall windshield with a shorter visor. Unlike the Cruze’s chrome-heavy finish, the motorcycle also gets a dark theme, with the engine bay, wheels and bicycle parts blacked out. Alloy wheels will be standard on the Street, while the Cruiser will continue with wire-spoke units. The Avenger Street 220 is expected to be offered in two color options, including Ebony Black and Cocktail Wine Red. Feature highlights are likely to include front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, semi-digital instrument cluster and more.
