The music video was directed by Parris Goebel.
‘The devil wears Prada 2′: What happens in the ‘Runway’ music video
The video opens with the pair wearing identical oversized red blazers, matching black ties and white button-downs with straight hair, lip-syncing to the song’s intro: “Anything, nothing to say, you gotta step up.”From there, the video enters the world of avant-garde fashion. Gaga sings: “Walk, I feel great, I feel free, I feel special, I hate everything you want, but I’m dangerous, you’ll burn your tongue with this tea, you’ll be late, you might be on time, wait, I’m coming, kiki, this paparazzi routine, bitch, I’ve been seen.” The pair are then coordinated in haute 18th century inspired ball gowns, dramatic make-up and perfectly coiffed hair.Doechii takes the front of the chorus, rapping, “Yeah, serve a little, yeah, with a little side of the ass, yeah, the front row screamed, okay, okay, yeah, do a little spin, yeah, let them know I’m that girl, yeah, Monday through Sunday, I can turn a dance floor.”As the song closes, the pair remind the audience one last time that they were “born for the track.” “Pose, I’m not afraid of the camera, born for the runway, sashay, Doech-ay, pose, born for the runway, I’m not afraid of the camera, born for the runway, sashay, Gag-ay.”The video also makes subtle nods to the upcoming film, including a sequence where the pair are seen reading from a magazine called ‘Runway’, with Emily Blunt’s character Emily Charlton on the cover.
How Lady Gaga and Doechii’s collaboration came together
This is the first time Gaga and Doechii have worked together, but the admiration between the two has been building for a long time. Gaga told Vogue in July 2025 that she “fell in love” with Doechii’s music. “It’s not often you see someone walk out the door with a pen that feels instantly legendary,” Gaga, 39, said.Doechii recalled to People how she was “putting it off” with the comment. “I’m the biggest Lady Gaga fan. So to have a legend like that say that about me, it really validated me in a humbling way,” he said.
