The Maharashtra Cyber department has arrested a person in connection with the cyber bullying case involving the Bollywood superstar. Akshay Kumardaughter, Nitara Kumar.IANS reported that the Director General of Police, Maharashtra Cyber, Yashasvi Yadav, confirmed the development and said that the accused has been arrested after investigation into the matter.According to officials, Nitara was allegedly targeted while playing an online game where she received inappropriate messages, including requests for nude photos.

Speaking about the case at a cyber awareness session at RD National College in Mumbai, ADG Yadav said that the information reached the authorities through Akshay Kumar himself, after his daughter reported the incident at home.He said, “He (Akshay Kumar) had a very amazing story to share with us. He said he was sextorting his daughter. The girl was very brave and informed her parents. We received this information through his parents, and that’s how we handled the case.”He added that the case was an example of the extent to which online interactions can escalate into the dangers of cybercrime.
Akshay Kumar tells a shocking incident about his daughter
During the session, officials also played an old clip of Akshay Kumar in which the actor publicly narrated the incident in October 2025.He said, “I’d like to share a little incident with you that happened at my house a few months ago. My daughter was playing a video game. There are some video games where you can play with someone, but you’re playing with a stranger.”He explained how the conversation started normally before it turned inappropriate.“When you’re playing, you get messages like, ‘Thank you, that was great,’ or ‘You’re doing great.’ Suddenly, the person asked: ‘Where are you from?’ “Mumbai” he said. Then everything was back to normal,” he said.The actor added: “Then a message came, ‘are you a man or a woman?’ He replied: ‘Woman’. After that, she sent a message asking: ‘Can you send me a picture of yourself naked?’ My daughter immediately turned off the game and told my wife.’
Akshay Kumar has raised the alarm
Akshay Kumar also emphasized how such incidents can lead to greater risks online.“This is how things start. This is also a part of cybercrime. People and children are taken. Extortion money must be given. There are many cases of suicide. In the digital world, it is very important for our children to learn this,” he said.The actor had also requested Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to conduct cybercrime awareness classes in schools earlier.
Promoting cyber awareness in universities
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Cyber also organized a special awareness session at RD National College to educate students about online security.Sessions focused on topics such as online financial fraud, social media security, phishing attacks and cyberbullying, urging students to adopt safer digital practices in an increasingly vulnerable online ecosystem.
