A hundred is not enough: Sai Sudharsan sees Virat Kohli handle Chinnaswamy as RCB beat GT by five wickets

New Delhi: A century from Sai Sudharsan was not enough to get Gujarat Titans back to winning ways as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) easily chased down 206 runs to beat Shibman Gill’s side by five wickets in their IPL 2026 match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday. Virat Kohli And Dev Dutt Pedical is leading the chase. Chasing 206, RCB suffered an early blow when Jacob Bethel was dismissed early. Kohli and Devdutt then recovered and added 115 runs for the second wicket, putting the home side in a strong position.Kohli scored 81 while Devdutt scored 55, and their partnership ensured that the asking rate remained in check. RCB completed the chase in 18.5 overs and moved to the second spot on the points table with 10 points.Kohli got a lifeline when Washington Sundar dropped him for a wicket off Mohammad Siraj. After that, he settled down and handled Prasad Krishna and Kagiso Rabada well.He hit Parsed for two fours, Rabada for a six, and Rashid Khan for another six over midwicket. Kohli completed his fifty in 30 balls.At the other end, Dev Dutt matched it with a stroke for a stroke. He hit two sixes to Parsed and maximum sixes to Rashid as well. He completed his fifty in 10 balls faster than Kohli.Rashid finally broke the stand with a delivery that bowled Devdat. Kohli, who looked in complete control, was later dismissed by Jason Holder dragging the ball onto his stumps.RCB then suffered a brief collapse as skipper Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma were also out, leaving them at 173 for five.But Krunal Pandya made 23 off 12 balls and Tim David added 10 to take RCB home. This was Chinnaswamy’s fourth win in five matches this season.Earlier, Sai Sudharsan scored 100 and helped Gujarat Titans to 205 for three after coming in to bat.Opening with skipper Shubman Gill, Sudharsan put up a 128-run partnership for the first wicket. Gill scored 32 off 24 balls but Sudharsan was the main scorer and dominated the stand.The left-hander scored 46 runs in the powerplay and completed his fifty in 33 balls by hitting Romario Shepherd for a six. His next fifty came in just 24 balls when he attacked the spin of Krunal and Suyash Sharma.During the innings, Sudharsan also became the fastest batsman to score 2000 runs in the IPL. He reached his century off a ball from Suyash.He was dropped on 91 by Suyash on his own bowling but could not last long after the century. He scored exactly 100 runs and got out with a return catch to Josh Hazlewood.After their dismissal, RCB pulled things back nicely. From 174 for two in the 17th over, Gujarat managed just 31 more runs in the last four overs. Holder’s unbeaten 23 off 10 balls helped them cross the 200 mark, but it was not enough as RCB completed the chase comfortably.
