Yash on humanizing Ravana in 'Ramayana': 'It's important that people relate to him'

The actor, who has been making headlines all week thanks to his interactions with the media in Los Angeles, returned to the top trends on social media after sharing an interesting aspect about his character. The actor, who will play villain Ravana in the mythological epic, shared fresh details about his approach to portraying the grey-shaded character.

Speaking to a news channel, the actor admitted that adapting the mythological character for a global audience has been a challenge. According to a video shared online, Yash said, “I have tried to capture the essence of Ravana and make him as human as possible. Sometimes it’s important for people to relate to him, especially since we have global ambitions (for the film), so we need to make it familiar to the western audience as well.

In the challenges of playing Yash Ravana

The actor, however, insisted that filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra were also mindful of preserving the cultural and spiritual significance associated with the character. He explained: “The story should not deviate from people’s belief system. It was a big challenge but I had fun playing this character because he has so many nuances and it’s a dream for any actor to play him.”

‘Ramayana’ Cast and Release Date

Yash will play the role of Ravana, opposite Ranbir Kapoor Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Despite being in another interaction, the actor admitted that while the film sets up his character to take on Ranbir’s Lord Ram, the two will not be sharing any scenes in the first part of the film slated for a Diwali release. According to the actor, the film is slated to release by the end of October.
