New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the post-result process for Class XII students to access the checked answer sheets, verify marks or get re-evaluation after the declaration of board exam results earlier this month. The process has gained importance this year after the CBSE acknowledged the possibility of evaluation errors during the examination of around 1.25 crore answer scripts. The board declared the Class XII results with 85.20 percent which is lower than last year’s 88.39 percent.Step 1: Apply for copies of examined answer sheets.Students who want to check their marks should first get copies of their checked answer scripts through the official CBSE portal. The application window for obtaining the checked answer sheets will be open from May 19 to May 22. Students can login using their board exam credentials and select the subjects for which they want copies of answer books.CBSE has clarified that students have to complete this step before proceeding with verification or re-evaluation applications.Step 2: Review the answer sheets carefully. After receiving the checked answer sheets, students should carefully check all pages, totals, unchecked answers and marks awarded.Students are expected to point out discrepancies, if any, before applying for further correction. CBSE has said that the aim of this process is to improve transparency and allow students to review assessment details independently.Earlier, CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj said the board evaluates around 1.25 crore answer scripts annually.“We review around 1.25 crore answer scripts, there is a possibility that there will be a mistake,” Bhardwaj said in an interview to ANI.Step 3: Apply for verification or re-evaluation.Students identifying discrepancies can apply for verification, discrepancy reporting or re-evaluation from May 26 to May 29.According to CBSE, a panel of experts will examine the reported concerns. If any diagnostic errors are confirmed, corrections will be made accordingly. The board has also clarified that the revised scores may either increase or decrease depending on the verification results.“It is important to clarify here that if correction of an error results in a lower score, the student’s marks will be reduced accordingly,” Bhardwaj had said. What should students keep in mind?CBSE has advised the students to apply only after checking their answer sheets carefully. Students should retain copies of application and payment receipts submitted during the verification process for future reference.
