New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj recently found himself at the center of a funny social media moment when a picture of a security guard resembling him during Vijay’s swearing-in ceremony as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister went viral.Fans quickly noticed the resemblance between Kamboj and the security personnel standing near Vijay during the event and started sharing memes online.
These jokes became so popular that Kamboj himself started receiving messages asking if he was secretly doing security duty instead of playing cricket.CSK later shared a video where Kamboj reacted to the pictures that went viral and finally met his lookalike at the stadium.“Actually, almost everyone sent me this meme on my Instagram,” Kamboj said. “Everybody’s just asking me what are you doing there? But actually he looks like me, not quite.”The viral moment also gained attention. Ravichandran Ashwinwho took to social media to joke about Kamboj being absent from cricket duty for security work.“Duty always comes first, but on a mandatory match day #CSKVLSG, it’s a bit much,” Ashwin joked.The mild incident came during an important phase of the IPL season for CSK. After a poor start with three consecutive defeats, Chennai made a strong comeback by winning six of their next eight matches to stay alive in the playoff race.CSK recently defeated Lucknow Supergiants by five wickets and now need strong results in their remaining league matches against Lucknow, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans to clinch a place in the playoffs.
