New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru bid an emotional farewell to one of its longest-serving members as former head physio Evan Speechly’s 18-year association with the franchise came to an end, ending an important chapter in the team’s journey.Speechly, who served RCB from 2008 to 2025, returned to Bangalore for a special farewell organized by the franchise. The event brought together players and support staff, offering a rare moment to celebrate the contributions of a tireless behind-the-scenes figure across the team’s many tenures.They were paying homage. Virat Kohliwho shared a deeply personal message reflecting on his longtime relationship with Speechly. The former RCB captain, who himself has been synonymous with the franchise for almost two decades, highlighted not only Speechly’s professionalism but also his human qualities.“I probably spent the most time with you in the RCB setup. You are one of the OGs. Apart from your hard work and professionalism, what will always stand out is your kindness, care and integrity. That is something I will always carry with me,” Kohli said.In an emotional continuation, Kohli added, “To say that you will always be a part of this family, you always were, and you always will be. “Evan has been our lead physio for a long time. We wanted to bring him back to acknowledge his contribution, spend some time with him, and celebrate what he has done for RCB,” said Bobbitt.Clearly touched by the gesture, Speechley expressed his gratitude and reflected on his deep connection with the franchise. “When I walked into the hotel yesterday, it felt like coming home. Many of us have been here for a long time, and RCB has always felt like a family,” he said.“Everyone in world cricket would love to spend a season here, I’ve been lucky to be 18. I will always feel part of RCB,” he added.
