How the main accused stole the film
According to an IANS report, the police explained how the crime took place, saying that the main accused was working as an assistant editor for another film. “The main accused was working as an assistant editor for another film. However, he gained access to the reels of the film ‘Jana Nayagan’ without permission in the editing studio and stole it.” Police said the person used his access to download the footage without permission.
Pirated copies circulated online
After stealing the reels, the accused converted them into a full film file. “The stolen data was then made into a movie and shared with the defendants, causing the pirated copies to be circulated and disseminated online.” This is how the film quickly spread on the Internet. Furthermore, it has been announced that the three defendants will be presented before the Honorable Court and handed over to judicial custody.
The police issue a stern warning about piracy
Sharing a strong warning, the police shared, “Engaging in digital piracy, including forwarding or promoting such content, will attract strict legal consequences.” People are also asked not to download or share such content.
