In a recent interview, Vignesh Rajaja revealed and explained an unexpected casting choice that fans were curious about: Chaitra J Achar was the first choice to play the female lead in the film, as originally planned.

Speaking to Fully Filmy, Vignesh Raja revealed that he approached Chaitra J Achar early in the casting process. He said, “We really finalized Chaitra J Achar in our mind for this character.” He felt that the team perfectly matched the rural tone and emotional tone of the role. He also did a look test, and at that stage of the project everything seemed to be going well.

However, things changed when Chaitra informed the team about another film. Vignesh Raja said, “He told us that he will be seen in a very similar look in ‘My Lord’ before the release of our film.” Since that film was expected to be released earlier, the makers felt that it might affect the freshness of the character. Because of this time issue, the team decided to rethink the casting option for the role.
Vignesh Raja is surprised by Mamitha Baiju’s quick acceptance
After Chaitra J Achar left, the team turned to Mamitha Baiju to take over the role. Vignesh Raja admitted that he had doubts at first, “I thought he might not accept such a character”. But he surprised the team by immediately agreeing to the role. The director praised her for breaking away from her usual image and adopting a more grounded character. He added that his performance gave freshness and strength to the film.A strong and supporting cast, music composition by GV Prakash Kumar and heightened expectations have contributed to the high level of interest in ‘Kara’, one of the most awaited releases.
