Back to the days of the singing star Kishore Kumar, Vedang Raina it is heard and seen in singing Imtiaz Ali‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ and that too under the direction of AR Rahman. Talking about the same in an exclusive interaction with us, Vedang says, “I guess I’m blessed.”“In Main Vaapas Aaunga, I started working with one of my wish-list directors (Imtiaz Ali). I also sing for my character, and that too for Rahman Sir,” added the actor, who sang ‘Maskara’ in the film.
Can Vedang Raina hope to usher in Kishore Kumar’s era of singer-stardom?
“I don’t know how much I can bring, but I definitely want to continue my singing. More than that, I want to create my own music. I have a real passion for it, and I will work on that craft at the same time. Maybe someday I will release something,” said the star of the famous ‘Jigra’.Like Kishore Kumar, Vedang hopes to sing for the characters he plays. He shared, “Hopefully, I will get opportunities to sing in the films I appear in. And maybe one day I can release an album. I performed quite a bit in school and college. I did a few gigs here and there.”This is not the first song sung by Vedang for a film. In Karan Johar’s ‘Jigra’, he sang the old Kishore Kumar classic ‘Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka’. “That was different,” he recalls, adding, “I didn’t get Phoolon ka taaron ka lip-sync in Jigra. But here in Main Vaapas Aaunga, I sing for my character. It’s a big hill.”
