Twitter bans over 5 lakh accounts in India, here's why
Elon Musk’s X platform banned more than 5 lakh Indian accounts for violating policies, including promoting terrorism and child sexual exploitation. Users must refrain from violating the policies to avoid account suspension.

Elon Musksocial media platform, x (formerly Twitter) has. Banned More than 5 lakhs Accounts Reuters in India reported that the accounts were banned between January 26 and February 25 for violating various policies set by the social media platforms.
A total of X accounts were banned in February.
According to the report, the social media platform has banned 5,06,173 accounts promoting child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity. In addition, the platform suspended 1,982 accounts accused of promoting terrorism.
Combined, X has banned a total of 5,08,155 accounts in India during the said period. In addition, the platform has received around 14,421 complaints from Indian users through its grievance redressal mechanism. Additionally, around 41 requests have been raised regarding account suspension.
“We have lifted the suspension of 1 of these accounts after reviewing the details of the situation. The rest of the reported accounts remain suspended,” the company said in its statement.
“We received 71 requests during this reporting period regarding general queries about accounts,” it added.
This is not a new practice for X to ban accounts for policy violations. Between December 26 and January 25, the platform banned around 2.31,215 accounts in India. In the same period, the company banned 1,945 accounts on its platform for promoting terrorism.
Tips to avoid getting X account banned
To prevent X from terminating your account, avoid violating the policies set by the platform. Stop posting child sexual abuse and non-consensual nudity.
