A day earlier, veteran producer TP Aggarwal had approached the Bombay Civil Court in Dindoshi with a petition against FWICE and IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association). As he argued, neither individuals nor industry organizations have the legal authority to impose bans or issue non-cooperation directives against members of the film industry. The move follows FWICE’s no-cooperation directive against stakeholders Ranveer Singh Amid ongoing conflict with Excel Entertainment.

Aggarwal told Bollywood Hungama, “As you well know, I was the president of IMPPA for 17 years and was also the president of the Film Federation of India (FFI). We got a judgment from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) when I was in IMPPA against FWICE. The judgment clearly stated that such decisions cannot be taken, they cannot enter any premises, etc. Meanwhile, I was planning to do a film and was thinking of talking to Sanjay Dutt and Ranveer Singh. That’s when I came to know about the non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh.”

Questioning the FWICE’s decision, Aggarwal said he was worried about the impact these directives could have on an artist’s livelihood. He stated, “You want to make sure that the actor gets work anywhere. Aise toh aap sabki rozi roti khatam kar doge. That’s when I decided to approach the judge.”

Responding to a question about whether FWICE representatives had contacted him after he was taken to court, Aggarwal said they had not. He said any discussion should take place before a decision is made, given his long association with the industry and his time as former IMPPA president. “Why should they contact me (laughter)? They should have contacted me before making this decision. After all, they know me well and are aware that I am the former president of IMPPA. Agar woh gundagardi karke apni power dikhayenge, aise toh nahin chalega na? They can’t do that,” he said.

Responding to a question about whether he contacted Ranveer or not, Aggarwal said he did not contact the actor. He also stated that the decision to take him to court was not driven by a desire for publicity or interaction. “No, I didn’t. I didn’t take this step to get Ranveer to talk to me. I don’t need that publicity.”
