Hopper was cast as Christof, the sinister puppet master at the center of ‘The Truman Show’, but lasted just one day before being fired after the producer and director agreed he was not right for the role. Hopper later explained, “Scott Rudin, the producer, agreed with the director that if he didn’t like what I was doing after the first day’s dailies, he’d fire me.
