Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Elwes laughed as he reflected on his and Cruise’s “Days of Thunder” collaboration. He recalled a big incident on the first day of the shoot, when the ‘Vanilla Sky’ actor was driving his car for the first time.However, Cruise caused a major accident on the first day of filming. Elwes remembers that the car he was supposed to drive in the movie crashed into a wall. “Tom actually drove a car into the wall the first day he drove it. And these things don’t come cheap. And it was a lot of fun. In the movie, his last words before he crashed were, ‘Hi, wall,'” the actor shared.The 63-year-old then weighed in on what a great guy Cruise is. He added: “He’s an awesome guy. He’s really fun to work with, so professional and everyone’s so supportive.”

While Cruise came prepared and was used to racing cars before the film, Cary was a total novice and didn’t know how to handle a race car. He commented, “I had to learn how to drive NASCAR, and it was a challenge because we had three cameras in the car.” He also revealed that driving with the stuntmen was a task in itself and that he had a lot to do on camera after hitting 120km/h, which was one of the toughest things.
