As the wait for ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ Season 3 drags on, the makers announced on Thursday plans to push forward a fourth season.According to reports, the UK production is preparing to begin pre-production for Season 4 later this fall, with filming expected to begin in early 2027, according to The Hollywood Reporter. While Prime Video hasn’t officially revealed the new season, the streaming platform is said to remain committed to expanding its ambitious adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s Second Age mythology. Given the current production line, Season 4 is expected to premiere in 2028, if development proceeds as planned.Season 3 of ‘The Rings of Power’, which premieres in November, will reportedly pick up “several years” from the events of Season 2. The new chapter is expected to unfold during the “War of the Elves and Sauron,” as the Dark Lord moves closer to forging the One Ring to rule all of Middle-earth.Initial reports indicated that the hti series will end after five seasons.The reports also come at a time when interest in the Lord of the Rings franchise is growing in film and television. Major upcoming projects include ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’, dir. Andy Serkiswhich will be released on December 17, 2027. Serkis will reprise his iconic motion capture role as Gollum, meanwhile. Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood They will return as Gandalf and Frodo respectively.
