'The Boys' star Dominique McElligott HAS RETIRED from acting; the actress ruled out the return of Queen Maeve in the finale

Dominique McElligottBest known for playing Queen Maeve in the hit series ‘The Boys’, she has not only hung up her superhero costume but also retired from acting.After ‘The Boys’ ended this week, showrunner Eric Kripke made a surprise revelation behind the character’s absence in the finale. Kripke revealed in an interview with TV Insider published Wednesday that McElligott was approached to return as his character in a brief appearance; however, he declined the invitation.“Dom and I emailed every six to eight months, and he checked in after the Palisades fires,” Kripke told the outlet. “We email each other, and I said very early on because I wanted to know if we were building to it, ‘Would you be willing to come back for a day? And here are the dates.'”However, McElligott declined the offer. “He was very nice and respectful,” Kripke said, explaining, “He just said, ‘I’m retired from acting. [I’m not] I’m actually acting, and I’m busy on those dates anyway’”.The showrunner insisted there was no bad blood, saying, “It was a really nice, non-controversial moment, you know?”Although Queen Maeve has not physically appeared in the series since the end of the third season in 2022, her character continued to appear in recaps, montages and other references in subsequent seasons. He made his last official appearance in the explosive third season, where the superhero sacrifices himself in a fight against Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy in a last-ditch effort to protect others. While the feud left him incapacitated, effectively marking the end of his superhero journey, the door was left open for his possible return.
