The spin-off project was announced in 2023 within the universe of ‘The Boys’. This isn’t the only spin-off to be released, as ‘Vought Rising’ will be released soon, which will be billed as a prequel to the entire premise of the show.Entertainment Weekly reports that right now, almost three years after it was announced, it’s still in development, and there’s no word on when it’ll be officially released in the next few years. What we know about the project so far is that it’s being helmed by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the acclaimed writer best known for his work on DC’s ‘Blue Beetle’. The filming will take place in various locations in Mexico, with a main Mexican cast.Mexican stars Diego Luna and Gael GarcĂa Bernal are also linked to the upcoming series. It was reported that the two were considering acting roles, but later changed their plans and will be involved in the behind-the-scenes work of the upcoming show. Meanwhile, ‘Vougt Rising’ will be released next year.Eric Kripke confirmed that the famous studios behind the entire franchise have officially seen the first draft of the script. He noted: “They’ve just delivered a draft of the pilot to Amazon. Amazon seemed to really like it and they seemed to be making all the right noises. They gave some notes, so we’re going to include those notes. Gareth [Dunnet-Alcocer]the writer is so intelligent and good”.
