Swaroop Sampat Rawal says Aditya Dhar is responsible for his gray hair, spills over 'Dhurandhar', recalls experience in 'Uri'

Swaroop Sampat Rawal was also seen for his flagship TV show “Yeh Joh Hai Zindagi” and movies like “Ki And Ka”, “Saathiya” etc. Aditya Dhar‘Uri: surgical strike’. A film with a protagonist Vicky Kaushal Swaroop’s husband also starred Paresh Rawal. In a recent interview, Swaroop opened up about his experience of working with Aditya Dhar and also praised ‘Dhurandhar’. When asked about a film on his mind today, he said, “Dhurandhar, Dhurandhar Dhurandhar” in an interview with Variety India. He added, “This is not just because of who he is, but because he’s the nicest person to work with.”He recalls how conversations about “Uri: The Surgical Strike” often filled Rawal’s house long before he became part of the project. “During the planning of Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), my husband Paresh and my son Aditya would join Aditya Dhar as they knew him very well. And he would constantly talk about the film. Of course, the speech would also reach home,” he says.Sampat and Dhar first crossed paths when he was working with director Priyadarshan, assisting him and helping him write ‘Aakrosh’ (2010). A few years later, Paresh Rawal joined “Uri: The Surgical Strike” as Govind Bhardwaj, a character inspired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.Sharing how Sampat got his part in the film, “One day, Aditya (Dhar) called me. I was returning from the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) office to my hotel in Delhi, and Dhar said, ‘Ma’am, I have a role for you’. So I said, ‘Aditya, I’m doing it!’ He says: “But you haven’t heard the story!” I replied: “I don’t care! I’m doing it!” “Why, ma’am?” he continued I said: ‘In my house, they are talking about ‘Uri…’ all the time. So I’m making your movie, okay’”.Later, he visited the Dhar Rawal headquarters to narrate the script and made a specific request. “Lady, don’t dye your hair if you don’t care!” he said to him. Sampat agreed, jokingly adding, “Okay. So he’s responsible for this,” pointing to his gray hair.Although her appearance in the film — as Vicky Kaushal’s mother — was brief, Sampat says she thoroughly enjoyed the experience. “Aditya Dhar is such a pleasure to work with!” he says. “It’s so quiet and so comfortable [to work with]. He knows his job.”Looking ahead, Sampat says he hopes to do another film soon, preferably with his entire family. “Which I would like [to do, next] it’s a movie, especially a movie! We can shoot once and be done with it! There are four of us in one: Paresh, my sons Aniruddh and Aditya and me; not necessarily as a family. And I can only think of Aditya Dhar directing us all together!
