Ryan GoslingOne of Hollywood’s most famous actors, known for her roles in ‘La La Land’, ‘Barbie’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’, is about to make her childhood dream come true in the biggest way possible. The 44-year-old actor, who grew up sleeping on ‘Star Wars’ bed sheets, has now landed the lead role in ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’, which hits theaters on May 28, 2027. Gosling himself has described the experience as “surreal”, and it’s not hard to see why.
What it means to be part of Ryan Gosling ‘Star Wars’
Speaking to USA Today, Gosling went into depth about how the franchise shaped him long before he set foot on set. “It was incredibly surreal. I had pages of Star Wars before I saw the movie,” he said.‘Star Wars’ went on to be compared to the Beatles, something that had been there all along, quietly influencing him in ways he hadn’t fully realized. “It was my first, I think, first realization with Star Wars of what a font was, or what a score could be through John Williams, or what a sound effect was through the sound of a lightsaber, or what a villain was or could be. It’s endless,” he said. Most strikingly, Gosling revealed that while actually filming the movie, he discovered how much the franchise had shaped his understanding of the story. “His effect is so ingrained that when I was peeling back the onion layers of it while filming, I realized how much it shaped my whole sense of storytelling and cinema,” he added.

The film is set five years after ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ and promises a completely original story in an era never before explored in the franchise. A dream role for a lifelong fan
Gosling arrives in ‘Starfighter’ fresh from ‘Project Hail Mary’, one of his biggest films in recent years, making it his second major sci-fi adventure in a row. For a boy who once slept under the “Star Wars” sheets, his journey from fan to franchise leader doesn’t come any fuller than this.
