SSC CBE Important Objections Answered: Staff Selection Commission has issued detailed guidelines on challenge and objection management system for computer based examinations with objective multiple choice questions. This framework is applicable for the recruitment of Constable (GD) in Central Armed Police Forces, SSF, and Rifleman (GD) Vacancies in Assam Rifles Exam, 2026.Candidates are directed to refer the provisions mentioned in the previously published examination notice along with the newly issued instructions. The Commission said the updated system aims to ensure clarity and uniformity in dealing with objections raised against provisional answer keys.Process of raising objections and expert reviewAfter the completion of the examinations, the provisional answer keys are published and the candidates are invited to submit objections. These challenges are evaluated by subject matter experts, whose recommendations form the basis of the final answer keys. The Commission confirmed that the revised process follows the feedback received through representations, RTI applications and cases raised before courts, including observations of the Delhi High Court.Scenarios of controversial questions were explained. The instructions specify the results for different situations. If a question is found to be ambiguous, incorrect, or missing a correct option, it will be rejected and marks awarded to all candidates. Where there is more than one correct answer, candidates selecting any correct option will be awarded full marks, while incorrect answers attract negative marks. In cases where a question is considered out of syllabus, it will also be removed, along with all candidate marks. The Commission noted that such instances are expected to be rare due to the broadly defined curriculum.Language errors and assessment criteriaThe system also removes translation and language specific errors. Candidates choose their test language during application and can view questions in multiple languages, but must answer in the chosen medium. If inconsistencies arise in a particular language, the evaluation is performed independently for that version. The Commission clarified that only clear objections affecting clarity or intent would be entertained. Minor errors that do not change the meaning will be ignored. He added that the number of objections does not affect the outcome, stressing that decisions depend entirely on merit as done by experts. The guidelines will be applicable to all relevant examinations after 2026.
