The shooting of the Sourav Ganguly biopic has been shifted to Kolkata after the makers completed the initial schedule in Mumbai. the actor Rajkummar Rao‘Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story’, who dons the shoes of the former Indian cricket captain, has recently arrived in the city and has already started shooting at various iconic locations related to Ganguly’s early life and cricketing journey. The Kolkata leg of the shoot is expected to last around 15 days.According to India Today, the first phase of the shoot focuses on Sourav Ganguly’s formative years, from the streets of Behala to becoming one of India’s most celebrated cricket captains. The shooting reportedly began at Ganguly’s residence in Behala, where parts of his childhood and family life are being recreated. The production was later moved to Kolkata’s Maidan and the East Bengal Club ground, where elaborate sets were built to recreate Ganguly’s time playing in his first cricket days at Aryan Club. Rajkummar Rao was seen shooting sequences in a red tracksuit while portraying the young ‘Dada’.
Gardens of Eden the shooting finally begins
With the IPL season at Eden Gardens recently over, the production finally got access to the iconic stadium for the important scenes of Ganguly’s cricket career. The makers are recreating some of the most memorable moments from his journey, including Lord’s famous shirt-waving celebration that has become one of the iconic images of Indian cricket. Apart from Eden Gardens, the shoot is also taking place at Dukhiram Cricket Coaching Center which is under the Aryan Club premises.
Sourav Ganguly has merged parts of the movie
According to reports, Sourav Ganguly himself was present for parts of the shooting schedule at his Behala residence and Eden Gardens. The former cricketer is reported to be closely involved with the project as the makers try to recreate different stages of his life truthfully.The film will not only chronicle his cricketing success but also his personal journey and struggles before becoming one of India’s most influential sports figures.
Srija Bhattacharya To play the young lady
The biopic will also feature Srija Bhattacharya in the role of young Dona Ganguly. The young actor who is said to be a 7th standard student from Sonarpur has been associated with acting since childhood.
