The fatal incident at Binny Mills in Chennai resulted in the death of a 26-year-old crew member and left three others injured.
The crew member lost his life during an early morning shoot
The tragic accident occurred in the early hours when the production team was shooting a high-octane sequence. According to News 18, a gas cylinder used for the special effects sequence malfunctioned and exploded.The explosion seriously injured four crew members, who were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. Tragically, Madhan, a 26-year-old technician from Maduravoyal, succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations focus on safety and negligence
After the deadly explosion, local authorities launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the error. Detectives have been questioning members of the production, examining traces of equipment and checking whether proper safety protocols were in place before filming began.The inquiry also wants to know if any safety rules were followed before filming the scene. Investigators must determine whether the explosion was due to negligence or a technical malfunction.
The gas supplier and the manager have been arrested in the case
As part of the ongoing investigation, the police have already arrested Ramu, a vendor responsible for supplying gas cylinders along with his supervisor Arumugam. Both individuals are inquiring about the maintenance, inspection and safety compliance of the equipment brought to the complex.Meanwhile, three other technicians injured in the blast, identified as Sakthivel, Surya and Dhinakaran, remain hospitalized and receiving medical attention. A comprehensive police report detailing specific liability and safety lapses is expected to be uncovered as the investigation progresses.
