New Delhi: India’s star men’s doubles pair, Satok Sairaj Rankireddy And Chirag Shettyhas withdrawn from the Indonesia Open 2026 after Satwek suffered an injury during their opening round match in Jakarta. Both were forced to retire midway through their bout against Malaysia’s Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing on Wednesday, bringing their campaign to an early end.The Badminton Association of India (BAI) later confirmed the withdrawal and said the pair will now focus on rehabilitation before returning to action in the upcoming tournaments. “Satok Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have withdrawn from Polytron Indonesia Open 2026 due to injury to the former. The pair will now focus on recovery and rehabilitation as they prepare for the upcoming major tournaments. We wish Satok a speedy recovery and look forward to reading BAI’s statement in court soon.”The withdrawal comes at an unfortunate time for the Indian pair, who entered the tournament on a wave of confidence. Just last week, Satuk and Chirag ended a two-year wait for a BWF World Tour title by winning the Singapore Open men’s doubles crown.Both of them staged a memorable comeback against Indonesia’s Fajr Alfian and Mohammad Fikri in the final of the Singapore Open. After losing the first game, they fought back and won 18-21, 21-17, 21-16 to become the first Indian doubles pair to win the Singapore Open title.With Satuk and Chirag out, India’s challenge at the Indonesia Open now hinges on singles players Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, Ayush Shetty and Kadambi Srikanth. In doubles, MR Arjun and Hariharan Amsakaronen were the only Indian men’s pair in the draw.PV Sindhu, Onati Hooda and Malvika Bansod will also represent India in women’s singles, while Teresa Jolly and Gayatri Gopi will continue in women’s doubles. The mixed doubles challenge will be led by Rohan Kapoor/Ruthvika Shivanigude and Dhruv Kapila/Tanisha Christo.
