In an interview to Hindustan Times, Shilpa Shetty said, “The industry is going through a bit of a lull because they would rather not take any responsibility or risk and just go OTT. I don’t blame them. The whole math of making a film, the cost, all that, has changed.”

After successfully balancing films, television and entrepreneurship over the years, Shilpa Shetty says she has reached a point in her career where she doesn’t want to settle. He said: “I don’t want to overcommit to what I want to do because I’ve been there, I’ve done it for a very long time. I want to justify it when I see myself on screen.”During the interview, he also talked about why he wants to release it on the big screen. The actor said, “My kids haven’t seen me in a theater. So I want to do a movie that will release in theaters. My son saw Sukhee in 2023, but it was in a preview theater. I hope we get something like the movies we used to do earlier.”Reflecting on his 2023 film ‘Sukhee’, the actor expressed disappointment over its limited theatrical release. He elaborated, “A time when ‘Sukhee’ was released we didn’t get enough theatres. It was detrimental to the film. But OTT platform is great because people can find a movie in their time. Now I want a film that will be released in the cinema so that my children can see it on the screen.’

Now, presenting the cooking reality show ‘Maa Hai Na’, Shilpa Shetty revealed that 2026 will be a busy year professionally. He has also answered the rumors and questions about the projects he has turned down, and has made it clear that he stands firm in all the decisions he has made. She said: “There’s a lot going on work-wise this year. While I’m aiming for a theatrical debut, length of role has never been a criteria for me. There have been times when I’ve said no, and my reasons were completely justified – they were mine. There are some really big movies that I said no to, but that’s between me and the producer.
