Yaseen Khan, who was Shah Rukh Khana personal bodyguard for over a decade, he has seen Bollywood and cricket up close. Now running a Mumbai-based security firm, Khan has worked with some of India’s biggest cricketers and A-list celebrities, and says the difference in their personalities often comes down to their roots.
“The environment becomes very normal and simple”
Talking about his interactions with Indian cricketers, Khan highlighted how their upbringing reflects in their behaviour.“Most of the cricketers are from middle-class or lower-class families. Very few come from rich backgrounds. When you spend time with them, the environment becomes very normal and simple. In the last 7-8 years, I have provided security from time to time, whenever required. MS DhoniVirat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Abhishek Sharma. I work with 7-8 cricketers,” he told Hindi Rush.
‘Yuvraj Singh he treats me like a brother’
Among them, Khan shares a close bond with Yuvraj Singh.“I share a close bond with Yuvraj Singh, he treats me like a brother. After his marriage, I started getting more work for celebrity weddings as well. He is a very good human being,” she said.
MS Dhoni’s gesture left his team in awe
Khan also recalled a moment that he feels perfectly captures MS Dhoni’s humility.“MS Dhoni is a very humble and kind person. The teammates who work with him are treated very well. Recently, he celebrated someone’s birthday in my team, he brought a cake and everything. That person was so moved that he started crying. People want to see or touch such personalities, and when they sit with you, it means a common man to put your hand on your shoulder and celebrate your birthday a lot.”
From assistant directors to stars
Reflecting on his time in the film industry, Khan said it is rewarding to see familiar faces grow in the industry.“When I was working with Shah Rukh bhai, that time Ranveer SinghVarun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra were the assistant directors. It feels good to see them now. Recently I met Vicky Kaushal, she met me very warmly. His father is the martial artist Sham Kaushal, and when we worked together I had a very good relationship with him.’
“He who works hard never fails”
Talking about reconnecting with Ranveer Singh, Khan credited the actor’s work ethic.“We worked together when he was AD. Then I took a break, so we lost touch. Later, I worked with him again during his wedding, and also provided security for some of his events. I believe that a hard worker never fails. He is working hard and getting all the success he deserves.”
