The film’s producer, KC Bokadia, has just revealed how he managed to bring in Salman, SRK and the trio. He revealed that he was planning to remake the Tamil film and it would take Shah Rukh around 20 days. “I said, ‘I don’t know what you charge, but I’m willing to pay you 2 million,'” he said, adding that the actor’s usual fee at the time was between 1-1.5 million. Shah Rukh agreed and came to watch the original film the very next day. Bokadia also humorously mentioned that he kept the director away from the screening, saying, “Since the director has a strange personality I told him not to enter the screening because SRK might run away after looking at you.”KS Adhiyaman directed both the Tamil original and its Hindi version. Bokadia admitted that it was remarkable that Shah Rukh never asked to sign with the filmmaker before he started. After watching the film, the actor candidly shared his thoughts but still agreed to be a part of the project. “After Shah Rukh saw the film, he said, ‘I don’t understand such films. But I will do it for you,'” Bokadia recalled.Despite its star power, the film struggled at the box office. Made on a budget of 12 crores, it grossed approximately 13.5 crores according to Box Office India. During this time, Bokadia still owed Shah Rukh 95 lakhs, but the actor decided not to accept the payment. Recalling the conversation, Bokadia said, “I told Shah Rukh, ‘Sir, we have no problem with you. Besides, we have promised you money. It will not look good’.” Shah Rukh said, “Don’t worry. I can earn 95 lakhs by making an appearance at a wedding. You will have to pay me by selling your goods.’ Who says something like that? That’s his good nature.”Even when Shah Rukh’s secretary later tracked down the pending payment, the actor remained adamant. Bokadia said: “He said, ‘You don’t worry. I said it. I made a commitment. I told you, I’m not going to take any money.’ He added that he once tried to hand over a check for Rs 20 lakh, but Shah Rukh refused. “I even tried to give him a check for Rs 20 lakh, but he didn’t take it. I gave it to his driver but it was never deposited,” he said.According to Bokadi, the actor continued to deny payment even in subsequent meetings. In fact, Shah Rukh went a step further and volunteered his time for a future project if Bokadia ever needed him. Recalling the moment, Bokadia said the actor told him, “I respect you.
