“I jumped straight into one of the Marathi films There is a place, Kolhapur, which is very famous for wrestling. If a wrestler has not competed there, he feels his wrestling journey is incomplete. So after 22-23 years, I finally got a chance to shoot there. It feels like a full circle. I play a character close to Kashaba,” he revealed close to Kashaba.Sangram said, “When I went to Kolhapur to wrestle in 2002, I learned about Kashabi and got inspired after hearing his stories, so for me it was really a dream come true and also a beautiful coincidence that I got to shoot at the same place. There were so many emotions associated with this film.”Talking about director Nagraj Manjule, Sangram said, “Nagraj Manjule is great. I got to spend 2-3 years with Shyam Babu where I learned a lot about film and cinema. Also, I got to work with Prakash Jha, who is my mentor and a great friend. If I talk about Nagraj, he is the best version of both of them.”“He finished this film in a year and a half or two years, and while you’re working with him, you feel like you’ve known him forever. There is no acting burden or pressure. Everyone feels comfortable. He gives complete freedom to the actor, and working with him was an amazing experience.’Talking about the star actor, he said, “There are many legendary actors in this film, namely Nana Patekar, Mahesh Manjrekar and Sachin Pilgaonkar, along with many talented actors from the Marathi industry. On the day I was shooting, there were 2-3 Marathi actors with me as well.” I may not remember all their names right now, but it felt like an incredible space to share with such great people.”Recalling his interaction with Nana Patekar, Sangram shared, “I didn’t get a chance to work with Nana Patekar directly, but I met him at a program. Some people leave a huge impact on you, and Nana Ji is one of them. He helps farmers through his foundation and shared many valuable techniques and lessons with me. I was really surprised. It’s one of those that looks different, and it’s a Nana. What you see is completely different than Nana in real life. It’s a complete contrast.”He also praised Mahesh Manjrekar and Sachin Pilgaonkar, “Sachin ji is a wonderful actor, and I was very impressed. Mahesh Manjrekar is also a great actor and a very good human being. Although I didn’t have a scene with him, it was a great experience to be a part of the same film.”At the film’s premiere, Sangram said, “I completed my part much earlier, but the film took a long time to complete. For me, it doesn’t matter whether my role is for an hour or a few minutes, what matters is that the character should leave an impact on the audience and contribute to the film.”He added: “I come from a background where I can’t go around asking people for work. That’s not in my DNA. I hope the film does well and helps me take my journey forward, even if my role is for one minute, three minutes or five minutes.”Sangram also revealed that he has turned down films in the past despite being big superstars. “People told me I made a mistake in turning down those films, but if I’m not convinced from my heart about a role, I can’t do it. A superstar later told me that he didn’t feel connected to the film either. I think if you’re not convinced yourself, the audience will never be either.”Sharing his philosophy on life, he concluded, “I like to be calm and grounded. I don’t smoke or do anything harmful. Whether it’s wrestling, sports, movies or reality shows, I think you should always do something that teaches people something positive or contributes to society in a meaningful way.”
