Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan got candid about the film Ek Din, offering a rare glimpse into its production, from the early days of the script to self-doubt, language struggles and the realities of stardom. “We didn’t have anyone in the first review”Recalling how the film started, Junaid shared in a promotional video, “I remember when we were doing the scripting in January 2023. yes And we had just finished scripting and Sunil and I were going to Japan for 10 days.“Sai Pallavi added, “Yes. Yes. I think the first review was that we didn’t hire anyone except Mansour, father’s Nihas Pandan, Sunil and I… there was no one else.”Junaid continued, “Before we were supposed to leave for two weeks, we were discussing casting and Sai Pallavi was like… this is her film, she’s not going to do this, she’s doing so many big films… in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi”.Sai Pallavi about choosing the movieExplaining why she said yes, Sai Pallavi said, “It’s not about the size or smallness of a film that drives me. I think at that time in my life… I had done a lot of films… they were quite heavy and I wanted to do something that was light and didn’t bring much trauma to me.”He added, “So when the script came, I thought this would be in the realm of Before Sunrise…and I love Aamir sir…he diversified his entire creative sector…so I thought it would be a different experience.”‘I thought I did something wrong’Despite her excitement, Sai Pallavi admitted that she was unsure of herself. “I was very scared… I think I’m a little serious… and I thought I was wrong.”Junaid immediately disagreed, saying, “You are completely wrong… when I saw the film… I was silent for a while… and you were very good.’As Sai Pallavi recalls, “I said, ‘I don’t think he was meant to do this. I think I’m wrong.’ And he said: ‘What are you saying? You are so wrong.’ I don’t know… I feel like someone else should have done this.”Junaid was adamant, “Not a chance… I saw the movie… just one dialogue track… no background score… and you were spectacular.”On performance and language pressureJunaid further praised: “I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone play so well drunk and you don’t drink.”Sai Pallavi confessed, “I was scared… I don’t know how to act drunk… sometimes you overdo it or you don’t get the marks.”He also opened up about speaking Hindi on screen for the first time. “They kept saying you speak Hindi the way you do… I said I’d like to double it. “Dub? We’re making it sound live.’ That rocked my world.”“The first time I’m speaking Hindi in a film and you’re doing live sound… it’s a lot of pressure… but they said it was wonderful, so I went with it,” she added.Junaid on learning filmmaking and theatreTalking about his journey, Junaid shared, “My first job was as an AD on a film set…I was 19…it was one of the last films shot in 35mm…so I learned the brick and mortar process of filmmaking.”And he added: “I really like the stage… I’ve spent a lot of time there.”Filming in Japan and moments on setThe couple also talked about filming in Japan. Sai Pallavi said, “I can’t risk my knees… I’m a dancer… but this time it was for the movie… I really liked the snow.”As Junaid recalled, “we were about 20 people on skis… none of them knew how to ski… I took the lift and skied down.”They also shared a candid moment from a scene. Junaid said, “Actually, you fell asleep…it was very natural…but we couldn’t use it because it looked like a mistake.”Sai Pallavi laughed, “I would sleep in between sessions and then wake up for the shot.”“You can’t grow up Aamir Khan‘shadow’Opening up about his personality, Junaid opened up about being Aamir Khan’s son. “You will never get over the shadow of being Aamir Khan’s son.”“It’s neither positive nor negative… He’s been a movie star for 35 years.
