New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads on Tuesday. One Test and three ODI series vs. Afghanistan, both to be played in India in the month of June. KL Rahul replaced Pant as the vice-captain of the Indian Test team led by Shibman Gul. Senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been rested for the Test match. While the new faces included in the Test squad were Manu Sattar, Gurnoor Brar, Harsh Dubey. Among the notable inclusions for the ODI series was fast bowler Prince Yadav, who had a brilliant season playing for Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) in IPL 2026.
Here are the highlights of the squad announcement:
Jasprit Bumrah and Jadeja were rested.
- Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah rested from the one-off Test and ODI series against Afghanistan as part of managing his workload.
- Senior all-rounder
Ravindra Jadeja was rested. From the one-off Test as well as the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Gurnoor, Manusuther got the call for the first time.
- Spin bowler Manav Sathar and fast bowler Gurnor Brar have been included in the Test squad for the first time. Both are teammates of IPL franchise Gujarat Titans.
Rahul gets Test vice-captaincy.
- The brilliant wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has been removed as the vice-captain of the Indian Test squad.
Prince got a call in ODIs. Ishan Kishan returns
- While Prince Yadav is the new face in the ODI line-up, Ishan Kishan is the other wicket-keeper.
Harsh Dubey was selected in both the teams.Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar said that Dubey is perfectly fit to play the role of a bowling all-rounder. He says that he has impressed in domestic cricket and hopes that he can take advantage of the opportunity given to him in the senior team.
