Riddhima Kapoor SahniThe daughter of Rishi Kapoor and the late Neetu Kapoor, has opened up about making her acting debut in Daadi Ki Shaadi at the age of 45, calling it a “surreal” and “deeply moving” experience.“It feels really surreal and very emotional. It feels like everything is coming full circle,” she told The Indian Express, adding, “I know my father is always with me, blessing me in whatever I choose. That thought gives me great strength and comfort.”Talking about entering films at this stage, Riddhima admitted that it was not easy.“Honestly, the biggest challenge was entering a completely new world at this stage of life. There’s a certain vulnerability to starting over, but also a lot of excitement at the same time,” he said.
“Being on camera before helped me”
Riddhima, who was earlier seen in a reality show, said the experience helped her transition into films.“Being in front of the camera for a performance made me comfortable. It gave me a sense of ease and familiarity, which definitely made this transition smoother,” she shared.
Neetu on working with Kapoor and tips from Ranbir
Talking about sharing screen space with her mother Neetu Kapoor, she said, “Working with my mother was incredibly special. I discovered how effortless and instinctive she is as an actor.”He also revealed the advice he received before facing the camera. “Just be natural and don’t think too much. Feel the moment. That really helped facilitate my performance,” he said, citing his brother’s guidance. Ranbir Kapoor.Riddhima also talked about being recommended for the project.“I didn’t really ask why directly, but I think he saw some kind of sincerity or relatability in me. I’m grateful that he recommended my name,” she said.
“An honor to be a part of this legacy”
Reflecting on being part of the Kapoor family legacy, Riddhima said, “It feels like an honor. The women in our family have such grace and strength, and to be able to carry on even a small part of that legacy is something I really appreciate.”She added: “I feel like we’ve come a long way. Times have changed, mindsets have evolved. Today, women are choosing their own paths regardless of age or expectations. My debut is just a small reflection of that bigger change.”
