Vijayawada: The results of the intermediate public examinations in Andhra Pradesh were officially declared on Wednesday, sending a wave of joy among thousands of students across the state. Announcing the results, Education Minister Nara Lokesh said that a record pass percentage has been achieved this year which reflects better academic performance.According to the minister, 77 percent students passed the first year intermediate exams while the second year success rate was 81 percent. He expressed particular satisfaction over the performance of government junior colleges where 54 percent students passed the first year and 68 percent passed the second year.Highlighting performance by gender, girls once again outperformed boys in both categories. A total of 4,21,984 students appeared in the first year examinations out of which 3,61,526 passed successfully. Similarly, in the second year, 4,44,657 students appeared for the exam, and 3,59,816 cleared it, maintaining a strong overall success rate.Encouraging the students, Lokesh congratulated all those who passed and offered words of support for those who failed. He urged them not to lose hope and consider this setback as a stepping stone to future success. He also appealed to the parents, educational institutions and society to help such students in difficult times.The intermediate exams were held from February 28 to March 2. Students seeking re-verification and re-counting can apply between April 20 to 27. The practical examinations of the supplementary candidates will be held from May 7 to 11 at the district headquarters, while the advanced supplementary examinations are scheduled from May 21.District-wise, Krishna district emerged as the top performer in both first and second year results, while Annamaya district recorded the lowest pass percentage.
