Veteran film producer RB Choudhary passed away on Tuesday near Udaipur. According to reports, the accident happened around 3:00 p.m. The exact cause of the accident and the condition of others involved are yet to be confirmed.The producer who founded the Super Good Films banner was a prominent name in Tamil cinema since 1988. His mortal remains are expected to be flown to Chennai, where they will perform the last rites.RB Choudhary is survived by his wife Mahjabeen and sons, including actors Jiiva and Jithan Ramesh. He acted in several productions under the Jiiva family banner including Thithikudhe (2003), E (2006) and Kacheri Arambam (2010) among others.More details about the accident are pending.
Tributes are pouring in from the industry
Condolences have started pouring in from the film fraternity. Archana Kalpathi expressed shock at the loss, recalling him as a “steadfast producer” and a “very good human being”.Superstar Rajinikanth also mourned his death, writing, “My dear friend RB Choudhary was a top producer and a wonderful human being. He gave opportunities to countless young directors. His untimely death has left me shocked and deeply saddened.”
A legacy of decades of Tamil cinema
RB Choudhary’s first Tamil production, Pudhu Vasantham (1990), marked Vikraman’s directorial debut and won him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award. He sponsored KS Ravikumar’s debut with Puriyada Pudir (1990).Over the years, he produced several successful films including Nattamai (1994), Poove Unakkaga (1996), Suryavamsam (1997), Thullatha Manamum Thullum (1999) and Aanandham (2001) among others. His recent productions include Jilla (2014), Godfather (2021) and most recently Maareesan (2025).Choudhary was also instrumental in introducing various talents to the industry, including actors and filmmakers like Livingston, Rasu Madhuravan, S. Ezhil, Perarasu and Rajakumaran.
