Raveena Tandon Bhagwant Mann has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister after the State government initiated action against stray dogs on a Supreme Court order. The actor has asked the Punjab government to handle the issue compassionately to address public safety. His appeal came after the state said stray dogs would be removed from public places, shelters would be set up and legal action would be taken in cases of rabid, incurable or dangerous dogs.
Raveena Tandon calls out Bhagwant Mann for stray dogs
According to Hindustan Times, Raveena shared a note on Instagram and directly addressed the Punjab Chief Minister. He wrote, “Honorable CM Bhagwant Mann ji, your recent observations on the Supreme Court judgment on the management of stray animals have sparked important conversations across the country. While public safety is very important, I sincerely hope that the interpretation and implementation of the ruling remains humane and balanced.“Raveena asked the state to choose measures that protect both people and animals. He added that “compassionate solutions such as sterilization, vaccination, appropriate shelters and structured rehabilitation can help protect citizens and animals.”The actor also said that Punjab can set an example. He wrote: “I truly believe that with the help of authorities, animal welfare organizations and experts, Punjab can set an example of handling this sensitive issue with responsibility and kindness. How we treat the voiceless ultimately reflects who we are as a society.”
Punjab stray dog removal drive after Supreme Court order
As reported earlier, Bhagwant Mann said Punjab will implement the Supreme Court’s May 19 directions in “true letter and spirit”. He referred to the “growing concern” about the attacks of stray dogs in various parts of the state and said that children, the elderly and families should move freely in public spaces, without fear.Mann said stray dogs will be removed from all pedestrian public areas. He also said that the government will create and maintain enough dog shelters for the animals to receive proper care.The Chief Minister said that legally permissible measures, including euthanasia, will be applied only in cases of rabid, incurable or dangerous and aggressive dogs posing a threat to human life. He said these steps will follow the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the ABC Rules.Sonu Sood had also reacted earlier, calling some of the videos related to the album “very disturbing”. He said dogs are loyal animals and local people often know which dogs are harmful.
