The Delhi High Court on Tuesday issued a formal notice on a petition filed by Priya Kapur seeking permission to access the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) accounts of late businessman Sunjay Kapur to pay the school fees and educational expenses of her children Samaira and Kiaan with ex-wife. Karisma Kapoor.According to Republic World, the petition was heard on May 26, 2026, and seeks clarification and modification of the interim order passed by a co-ordinate bench on April 30, which froze Sunjay Kapur’s vast estate amid the ongoing succession battle.

According to court filings, Priya Kapur has sought amendments to clauses (b) and (d) of paragraph 79 of the interim order.The April 30 judgment restricted the liquidation, transfer or disposal of Sunjay Kapur’s personal assets and corporate holdings. However, the order reportedly set a limited framework for dealing with essential obligations related to her children.Priya Kapur has now sought the court’s explicit approval to withdraw money from the late industry’s provident fund accounts only for educational purposes regarding Samaira and Kiaan Kapur.His legal representatives clarified before the court that the funds would only be used for school fees and related academic expenses.
The legal battle over Sunjay Kapur’s estate continues
The lawsuit surrounding Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30 billion empire has involved several members of the Kapur family, including Priya Kapur, Karisma Kapoor’s children and Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur.After Sunjay Kapur’s death in June 2025, the High Court froze his household assets after raising objections to a contested will dated 2025 due to digital and textual inconsistencies that family members have alleged to be forged.In a parallel legal proceeding, Rani Kapur has also sought the dissolution of a family trust, accusing Priya Kapur of using her medical vulnerability to gain control of corporate affairs.The matter is being mediated by former Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud under the supervision of the Supreme Court of India.
