Pooja Bhatt recently revisited her Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin days Aamir Khan and admitted that while the two shared an undeniable “spark” and chemistry while filming the 1991 romantic drama, it never turned into a real-life relationship.In an interview with Vickey Lalwani, Pooja spoke candidly about her relationship Aamirhis perfectionist fan, and the playful friendship they shared on set.
“We were totally in love when the camera was rolling”
Talking about their chemistry during the shoot, Pooja said that she really enjoyed working with Aamir and acknowledged the great connection they shared on screen.“I found Aamir Khan nice. Aamir and I were totally in love with each other when the camera was rolling through Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin,” she said.When asked if there was any attraction between them at the time, considering the tabloids often linked the two actors, Pooja replied with humor. “You should ask Aami that question. I was pretty attractive, wasn’t I? Would you blame her if I was?” just kiddingHowever, she clarified that their bond never became serious off-screen. “Sure there was a spark, great chemistry, but did that spark have any tangible consequences? I don’t think so,” he added.

Pooja also reflected on Aamir’s involvement in all aspects of filmmaking, saying that his perfectionist tendencies were visible even then.“He’s someone who rehearses. That’s all… Well, some would say intrusive, some would say he’s very interested in every aspect of the film,” he shared.Recalling how Aamir used to question details on set, she added, “Why are you wearing such big heels? That’s not in character.”However, Pooja said she learned a lot from him as an actress. “His accuracy, for example, as an actor, is an accurate actor,” he said.
The hat everyone made fun of became a trend
The actor also revealed that Aamir’s famous hat in the film was his idea and was initially rejected by the team.“He was wrong about many other things, but he was right about one thing which was that hat,” he said, adding that Aamir had borrowed it from his nephew Imran.“We were like, ‘Oh my god, you can’t wear this, it’s a kid’s hat.’ But that hat became a rage, it was sold on every street corner,” he recalled.
“We were like Tom and Jerry”
Describing their friendship, Pooja said that she and Aamir constantly pulled each other’s leg on set.“He’s not wise and always fair, and we pulled each other’s legs a lot. We were like Tom and Jerry in that sense,” he shared.At that time, Aamir Khan was married to his first wife Reena Dutta. The actress later married filmmaker Kiran Rao, before the two announced their separation in 2021. Aamir is dating Gauri Spratt.
