He picks Piyush Mishra Imtiaz Ali On Anurag Kashyap
In a candid conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, when he was asked to choose Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashyap as his creative collaborators, Piyush Mishra didn’t take a moment to think.He said, “Imtiaz Ali, any day. He is a great director and writes amazing scripts. I feel immense satisfaction after working with him.” His next words about Kashyap, however, were more layered.Piyush Mishra said, “Anurag does too, but… How can I define Anurag Kashyap for you? Why does he talk so much? He hurts himself unnecessarily. You have to do good to yourself or to the other person, but he doesn’t think about himself. That’s his problem.”In the same interview, Piyush admitted that he and Kashyap, who collaborated on the cult classic ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ (2012), share a functional and productive working relationship. He said: “If you’re going against something, it should at least produce results. The main thing is that he knows he’s not going to get results; he still talks a lot.”He added: “Mujhe zabardast virodh hai usse (I have a big problem with that). We hardly communicate; I can’t talk to him for a long time, and neither can he. We don’t talk, we only shoot for films. But we work well; we both know what we want. He used to abuse me before, but now I do it alone.”

During the interview, Piyush Mishra also spoke about his close equation with Naseeruddin Shah, leaving little room for ambiguity.“I don’t have a good relationship with Naseer. I don’t like him and he doesn’t like me either. And if both parties don’t like each other, then it becomes an ideal scenario to not talk, because you both know you don’t like each other, so there’s no need to talk,” he said.On the work front, Piyush Mishra is currently touring with his band ‘Ballimaaraan’ in ‘Aarambh 2.0 India Tour’. Next projects include ‘The Saga of Rashtriya Rifles’ and ‘Lollypop Since 1947’.
