Speaking candidly on Lilly Singh’s podcast, host Shefali Shah asked her how to navigate the noise around traditional narratives of alpha males and wives while raising two sons; the actor didn’t mince his words.Shefali said, “Our daughters will be safe if our sons grow up well. I thought of this line that I told her, which applies to everyone. You treat others as you would be treated yourself. It really is as simple as that. There is nothing more and nothing less.”The actor added: “The rest… there’s a lot of noise. Would you like to be treated like that? No? Don’t do it to another person.”Shefali Shah also spoke about the limits of parental control and the uncertainty of raising children who will eventually form their own opinions.He added: “Did I succeed? I’ll only know when they’re 30. They’re growing up. They’re going to have their own points of view. They’re going to want to disprove anything an adult, a parent or a mother says… If they misbehave, I’m not going to take responsibility for that. I can’t. I did my best… I thought I did as they thought. Half decent.”
