New Delhi: The IPL 2026 Orange Cap and Purple Cap race saw yet another dramatic twist after Gujarat Titans’ defeat. Rajasthan Royals to set up a summit clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 2 on Friday.Despite Rajasthan Royals being knocked out of the tournament, teenage sensation Vibhu Suryavanshi retained the Orange Cap with another impressive knock. The 15-year-old scored 96 off just 47 balls in New Chandigarh, taking his tally to 776 in 16 matches this season.However, his valiant effort was not enough to take RR to the finals.The biggest threat to Suryavanshi’s orange cap now came from Gujarat Titans’ opening pair of Shibman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, who once again produced a crucial chase.Gill’s brilliant century in Qualifier 2 moved him to second in the standings with 722 runs, while Sudharsan’s fluent half-century helped him move to third with 710 runs.With GT now advancing to the IPL 2026 final against RCB in Ahmedabad on Sunday, both Gayle and Sudharsan will get one last chance to overtake Suryavanshi in the race for the tournament’s highest run-scorer award.The list of top five run scorers is currently dominated by hitters from playoff teams. Sunrisers Hyderabad stars Henrik Klaasen and Ishan Kishan are fourth and fifth with 624 and 602 runs respectively.RCB batting icon Virat Kohli is also in contention. Kohli is currently sixth with exactly 600 runs and could make a late addition to the standings during the finals.
