Being the daughter of two big Bollywood stars meant growing up in the limelight, though Twinkle Khanna he once revealed the endless rumors about his parents, Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadiait never affected him.In a retrospective interview Javed Jaaferi Yaadein in B-Town Ki – Is Duniya Ke Sitaray, cycle she opened up about dealing with gossip, navigating the life of a child star, and her unique upbringing in a celebrity household.When asked if growing up around the constant speculation about her parents affected her, Twinkle said she learned very early to separate public perception from reality.“There can be 10,000 rumors today. If I react to all 10,000 rumors, then I won’t be able to live my life. I hear things in one ear and let them come out the other,” he said.As the best-selling author explains, the versions of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia she saw in magazines were completely different from the parents she knew at home.“The magazines I used to read and the people who were actually my parents were two completely different people,” he recalls.“The people I read in magazines, I didn’t know. My parents were at home. So I knew very clearly from the beginning that there is a lot of fiction.”According to Twinkle, knowing who her parents really were helped her avoid the influence of gossip and tabloid stories.“If I didn’t know them personally and someone said these things, maybe it would affect me. But I knew who they were,” he added.
Raised with Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia
The former actor also reflected on his childhood and said that despite being raised by two of Hindi cinema’s most famous personalities, life seemed surprisingly normal to him.“For me, it was normal,” Twinkle said, recalling her relationship with her father.He recalled how Rajesh Khanna, despite his hectic schedule, always tried to make time for his daughters.“My father used to come home late, but it was convenient for him to come and see us,” she said.Twinkle also spoke about her multicultural upbringing, revealing that she grew up with different faiths and traditions.“I think I saw both religions from a young age. I was lucky. I was never really in too much trouble,” he said.
The burden and privilege of a famous surname
During the interview, Twinkle also discussed the perks and pressures of being born into a famous film family.“It’s a two-way thing. In a way, you can call it a burden and in another way, an opportunity. If I didn’t have a genealogy, maybe I wouldn’t get an opportunity,” he admitted.However, he stressed that maintaining a career ultimately depends on individual merit.“A movie will come to you because of it. But after that, if you want to stay here, that’s your fight, your personal fight.”Today, Twinkle Khanna has successfully carved her identity as an author, columnist, entrepreneur and producer. She is married to actor Akshay Kumar and the couple are parents to two children, Aarav Bhatia and Nitara Bhatia.
