Rapper Offset was ambushed by a “large group” of people who tried to rob him outside a Florida casino last week when he was shot in the leg, the FBI said Tuesday.Federal investigators say they are still looking for the suspects who attacked Offset last Monday night outside the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, north of Miami.
Displaced shot on leg
During the attack, a single shot was fired into Offset’s leg before an unsuccessful attempt to remove the rapper’s watch, the statement said. Offset, who rose to fame as part of the influential hip-hop trio Migos, was hospitalized for a couple of days but quickly returned to the stage during a performance at a University of Arkansas music festival on Saturday.
Police have arrested two in the shooting investigation
The suspects fled in two Chevrolet SUVs heading in different directions: He fled to Hollywood, Florida in a black Suburban, and he fled south to Miami in a Tahoe. After the shooting, officers arrested two people, but law enforcement has not shared any evidence directly linking the two to the shooting. One of the people arrested was rapper Lil Tjay, born Tione Jayden Merritt. He was arrested in connection with an altercation that occurred before the shooting, the Seminole, Florida Police Department said. He was charged with operating a vehicle without a valid license. His attorney, Dawn M. Florio, told The Associated Press last week that Lil Tjay did not have a gun and had not been charged with a gun or a gun-related crime. He was quickly released after posting bail.
