Nick Cannon says he gives his 15-year-old son Morocco a chance, but he doesn’t give the same freedom to Morocco’s twin sister, Monroe. The comedian and father of 12 admitted he lives up to a “double standard” while raising his son and daughter with Mariah Carey. Cannon said she encourages her son to get into the dating world, but she believes she feels more protected with her daughter because of the dangers young women face.

On Saturday’s episode of the TMZ Podcast, Nick Cannon said, “My son has been together and I’ve allowed it. I’ve encouraged it.” The comment came after interviewer Towanda Robinson asked if she also “allowed” and “encouraged” Monroe.Cannon quickly clarified his position. “No, absolutely not. It’s an absolute double standard,” she said. “You have to start first, and I know I get in trouble a lot because I say things with my chest, but there’s a difference between parenting a son and parenting a daughter.”The ‘Wild ‘N Out’ star said her concern comes from a place of protection. “I’m more protective of my daughter because there are things I have to protect my daughter from,” she explained.

Cannon said she sees her son’s dating life differently. “Say, as we know, there are certain types of people you want to keep away from your daughter. My son, it’s a whole other conversation when it comes out into the dating world.”She also talked about her fears about domestic violence. “But if somebody lays a hand on my daughter, I’m going to jail,” Cannon said. He called this situation “the worst nightmare” and added that “I will go to prison forever”.Cannon said he is not worried about the same problems with the Moroccan. He also said that the “gold diggers” are not worried because “she has a lot of money. She is her mother’s Mariah Carey.”However, Cannon said Monroe will not be locked up forever. “We have made an agreement. If he explains to me what will happen on these dates, he can go,” he said.He added that he wants open lectures before the university. “I’m getting ready for college. I know that’s out of my control. There’s nothing I can do about it. Fortunately, we continue to have all these open conversations. My daughter tells me anything and everything.”Cannon said she wants Monroe to ask questions and make safe choices when she starts dating.
