Neetu Kapoor explains why she consciously gives birth to a son Ranbir Kapoor and daughter Alia Bhatt their personal space even though they live in the same building. The veteran actress also recalled giving advice to her late husband Rishi Kapoor to avoid calling her daughter constantly Riddhima Kapoor Sahni after her marriage.In a recent interview with Soha Ali Khan, Neetu spoke about how parents should hold back when their children get married.“After marriage, I feel you should leave your children alone. I live in the same building as my children, but I don’t go when I want. I want to give them their space,” she said.“I don’t want them to feel like their mom is always sitting there. Their privacy is their privacy. I don’t interfere. Raha also comes to me whenever he is free; I don’t go there unannounced,” added Neetu, referring to Ranbir and Alia’s daughter Raha Kapoor.
Neetu recalls advising Rishi Kapoor after Riddhima’s marriage
Neetu Kapoor also revealed that she would often remind Rishi Kapoor not to call Riddhima too often after their marriage.“When Riddhima got married, I used to tell Rishi ji not to call me every day. I said, ‘Now Riddhima is married, Bharat is also there, you can’t keep calling me all the time. Let her go. You have to move away a little.’ He used to say: “I call him when I want, I also call him Bharat.” I said to him: ‘What are you doing? Calling sometimes is fine, but don’t call all the time. They have a life too, don’t be in their head all the time.‘”
Neetu praises Ranbir and Alia’s parenthood
In the same interview, Neetu also praised Ranbir and Alia for the way they are bringing up Raha Kapoor.“But what a dad Ranbir is, hats off. So is Alia. Both are amazing parents. They’re both very busy and have a lot to do, but the way they take care of the child, they’re both great,” she said.
Neetu Kapoor and Ranbir-Alia are now living under one roof
Neetu Kapoor lives in the same building as Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt after the family moved to their new home in Mumbai in November 2025. The residence holds emotional significance for the Kapoor family as it is built on the site of the former Krishna Raj Bungalow, which was an iconic Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapo and Krishna family property.The bungalow inherited by Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor was built into a spacious multi-storey residence where the family now stays together, maintaining privacy and individual spaces.
