The National Board of Medical Sciences Examinations has started the registration process for the June session of Foreign Medical Graduate Examination 2026. This exam is a mandatory screening test for Indian citizens and Overseas Indian Citizens (OCIs) who have completed their initial medical education abroad and wish to practice in India. FMGE is conducted twice a year in June and December, and serves as a qualifying examination. Candidates must score the minimum required marks to be eligible for registration with medical authorities in India. The exam is conducted in computer based mode and follows a standard pattern based on MBBS syllabus.
NBEMS FMGE Exam Pattern
FMGE 2026 will consist of 300 multiple choice questions divided into two parts, Part A and Part B. The duration of each part will be 2 hours 30 minutes.

Candidates need to score at least 150 marks out of 300 to qualify. The qualifying marks will remain the same for all categories.
NBEMS Syllabus of FMGE Review
The FMGE syllabus is based on the MBBS syllabus prescribed under the Graduate Medical Education Regulations. It covers a wide range of both pre-clinical and clinical subjects. The pre- and para-clinical section carries 100 marks and includes subjects like anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology and forensic medicine. The clinical section carries 200 marks and includes core subjects like medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, community medicine as well as psychiatry, dermatology, radiology and anaesthesia.
