New Delhi: Nagaland University has opened admissions for its newly introduced four-year undergraduate science programs at the Multidisciplinary Research Center (MDRC), applications will start from April 27 and the last date is set for May 18.The programs, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, are designed around a flexible academic structure with multiple entry and exit options, a dedicated research track, and a multidisciplinary curriculum aimed at preparing students for higher education and changing career paths.Courses offered at the Lumami campus include BSc programs in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology and Botany, with 10 seats in each department. The curriculum integrates basic science subjects with competency-enhancing courses and value-added courses to build practical and analytical skills as well as a broad-based academic foundation.The university said the programs follow a flexible choice-based credit system, allowing students to earn a certificate after one year, a diploma after two years, a bachelor’s degree after three years, or a bachelor’s degree with research after four years. The four-year track is designed to enable direct progression to PhD programs subject to prevailing regulations.Vice-Chancellor Jagdish Kumar Patnaik said this initiative reflects the university’s drive towards academic innovation. “Aligned with the NEP 2020 vision, these programs offer flexible exit options, a dedicated research track, and a truly multidisciplinary learning environment. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to academic innovation, research excellence and preparing students for the changing demands of the future.”Officials said the curriculum has been designed to meet contemporary academic and industrial requirements, focusing on interdisciplinary learning, computational skills and hands-on training. The program also includes an employability enhancement component to strengthen vocational readiness.Enrolled students will have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, digital learning platforms, research facilities and library resources. The MDRC ecosystem aims to foster scientific inquiry, innovation and critical thinking through a combination of theoretical and practical exposure, the university said.Candidates with minimum 50% marks in Class XII or equivalent examinations from recognized boards are eligible to apply. Students awaiting results can also apply as per admission rules. Applications can be submitted online through the university’s admission portal.
