Mrunal Thakur Dacoit: A Love Story is currently promoting his Hindi-Telugu release, but it’s his candid remarks about Son of Sardaar 2 that have grabbed attention. In a recent interview, the actor admitted that he was disappointed by the unexpected casting choices and key scenes being edited out.
“That’s not what I expected from the movie”
Opening up about his experience, Mrunal revealed that he was not aware of a major casting decision that directly affected his character’s arc.Speaking to Prema, she said, “I didn’t know, a very senior actor would be playing my husband. Because that changes my husband… this is not what I expected from the film. So I failed. Because there was a bit of shaken confidence. But you know, I don’t regret it.”For context, in Son of Sardaar 2, Mrunal plays Rabia Akhtar, while Chunky Panday portrays her Danish husband. Ajay Devgn essays Jaswinder Singh Randhawa aka Jassi, who is married to Dimple, played. Neeru Bajwa. The narrative then sees Rabia and Jassi finding love in the midst of their strained marriage.
“Two important scenes were cut”
Mrunal also talked about the crucial emotional scenes that didn’t make it to the final cut, especially Roshni Waliawho plays his daughter Saba.“I didn’t know that two of my important scenes would be edited on the table. For example, there is this beautiful scene with me and Roshni. Actually, she is my sister’s child and my sister dies in the film, it’s just a narrative. And I give up my personal life for her betterment. She says, it’s better that I don’t, if you have a mother like you, if you have a prayer, a girl like you. I was born, but the way you took care of me... that story was missing”.Despite the disappointment, the actor said he has a warm bond with the team.
It’s a busy year with multiple releases
After Son of Sardaar 2, Mrunal has been seen in projects like Do Deewane Seher Mein and is now promoting Dacoit. He also has Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Pooja Meri Jaan in the works.the director David DhawanHai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai stars Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde. The first look of the film, which featured AI-created twin babies arguing about their parentage, sparked mixed reactions online, with some questioning its authenticity. The rom-com will hit the theaters on June 3.
