Hollywood action film ‘Mortal Kombat II’ started well at the Indian box office. The film opened in 4,543 shows in India. This represents a net collection of approximately 1.40 million Euros on the first day.In comparison, Neetu Kapoor’s family drama ‘Daadi Ki Shaadi’ lagged behind, earning Rs 60 lakh nett on Day 1 from 1,789 shows. Its total India gross is 72 lakhs.Meanwhile, the devotional epic ‘Krishnavataram Part 1: The Heart’ received a modest response at the Indian box office. Directed by Hardik Gajjar, the film, which has created buzz for its rich visual portrayal of Lord Krishna’s journey, collected approximately Rs 50 lakh on its opening day.With the opening day numbers setting the tone, all eyes will be on the weekend trends to see if ‘Mortal Kombat II’ can maintain its momentum in India and emerge as the highest grossing film of this weekend. The film also beat the biopic ‘Michael’ which earned around 1.50 crores on day 15.“Mortal Kombat” also beat “The Devil Wears Prada 2” which earned around 1.20 crore on its second Friday.
