Kochi, June 10 (IANS) The makers of Mohanlal’s blockbuster Drishyam 3 are facing a legal challenge after a vehicle owner in Idukki alleged that his vehicle registration number was used in the film without his knowledge or permission.

He also submitted a copy of his vehicle’s Registration Certificate (RC) as evidence to support his claim.Rajeev alleged that displaying the vehicle number plate without permission could lead to serious personal and legal complications. According to him, any inconsistency in the number displayed on the screen can cause unnecessary problems for the actual owner of the vehicle.“Now that the film has gained traction, people who have seen the film have started reacting, seeing my vehicle as a ‘Drishyam’ vehicle. Mostly these comments have come from the new generation,” said Rajeev.Interestingly, Rajeev’s vehicle is a Mahindra Scorpio, while the vehicle used by the character in the film is of a completely different brand. However, he says the number plate shown in the film matches the one assigned to his vehicle.The complainant said the filmmakers were neither approached nor informed before using the number plate in the film. Now, he has decided to take further legal action against the production team if the scenes are not removed.The complaint has raised questions about the use of real vehicle registration details in the films and the responsibility of the filmmakers to ensure that such details do not cause hardship to unsuspecting people.
