Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph are back together in ‘Drishyam 3’, which is the latest installment of one of Malayalam cinema’s most successful thriller franchises. The new film follows the story of Georgekutty, a character who first appeared in 2013’s ‘Drishyam’ and returns in 2021’s ‘Drishyam 2’.
‘Drishyam 3’ worldwide presale around 31 crores
The film has created tremendous momentum before its theatrical release. According to film analyst AB George, Drishyam 3 has already earned Rs 28.90 crore through worldwide bookings. Mollywood’s second biggest opener in advance sales
With Rs 28.90 crore already locked in, ‘Drishyam 3’ has surpassed the total advance booking of Mammoott’s ‘Patriot’ which stood at Rs 28.60 crore worldwide.The next benchmark is “L2: Empuraan”, which reportedly registered Rs 52.5 crore in worldwide advance bookings.
Georgekutty and the family face a new threat
The story is expected to revisit unresolved issues from the earlier films. This time, Georgekutty and his family seem to face their most serious challenge yet.The film also stars Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Murali Gopy, Siddique, Asha Sharath, Santhi Mayadevi and Veena Nandakumar.
OTT release window
After the theatrical release, ‘Drishyam 3’ is expected to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Reports suggest that the makers may opt for a theatrical window of 30 to 35 days.If the plan goes ahead, the suspense thriller could reach the platform in late June or early July 2026. Meanwhile, Mohanlal was last seen in ‘Patriot’ starring Mammootty, Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban and others.
