“Shah Rukh Khan is a big part of my career”
In an interview with the BBC, Johar was asked about her relationship with Shah Rukh Khan, who attended the Met Gala last year. Reflecting on his footsteps, the filmmaker spoke of a long-standing friendship and professional association.He said, “For me, it’s very emotional. Shah Rukh is a big part of my career. I’ve done my first five films with him and he’s the reason I’m here today. Him coming last year and me this year, it feels like a full circle.”
The call ushers in a “full circle” moment
Karan Johar later shared a note on Instagram, describing his Met Gala debut as “full circle”. He wrote about representing Indian art and stories on a global platform.“From loving cinema and clothing to standing on the steps of the Met Gala as a wide-eyed dreamer, life truly comes full circle in unexpected ways. This moment wasn’t just about fashion. It was about storytelling: taking Raja Ravi Varma’s legacy and bringing it to life again, this time not on canvas, but in motion,” she wrote.
Ode to Manish Malhotra
The filmmaker also acknowledged her long relationship with Manish Malhotra, giving the designer a look.“Thirty years of friendship and collaboration with Manish Malhotra and still creating firsts together, so thanks to you and your team for this foundational memory,” he added.
